Kindergen is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision. For the dietary management of chronic renal failure in infants and childern requiring peritoneal rapid overnight dialysis (PROD) or continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis (CCPD). For use under medical supervision. Kindergen is a nutritionally complete unflavoured powdered feed consisting of whey protein (cow's milk), carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and trace elements with modified levels of phosphorus and electrolytes.

How to Use :

The quantity of feed and dilution should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient. 20% w/v (i.e. 20 g of this product made up to 100 ml with water) providing approximately 1 kcal/ml. Osmolality at this concentration is 280 mOsmol/kg H2O. A lower concentration may be required initially until tolerance is achieved. Preparation per 100ml ready to feed: 84 ml water (approx. 3fl.oz) + 4 levelled scoops (4 x 5g) of powder to yield the recommended feed concentration (20% w/v). For Bottle Feeding: 1. Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area. Sterilise bottles and teats. 2. Boil fresh water for 5 minutes or until an electric kettle switches off. Cool for at least 30 minutes so that the water feels warm to the wrist. Pour the required amount of water into a sterilised feeding bottle. 3. Fill the scoop provided with powder and level off with a clean, dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop. Only use the scoop provided. 4. Add the prescribed number of scoops of Kindergen to the water. Replace the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves. Before feeding ensure that the formula is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the wrist. 5. Use immediately after reconstitution. Formula remaining in the bottle after one hour of feeding should be discarded. Formula must not be rewarmed during feeding. For Tube or Sip Feeding: 1. Wash hands. Use clean equipment to prepare feed. 2. Use cooled boiled water and a sterile container. 3. Use the scoop provided or weigh out the prescribed amount of powder. 4. Add a small amount of the prescribed water to required amount of powder and stir with a fork until a smooth paste is obtained. 5. Continue stirring whilst adding the rest of the water until the prescribed dilution is achieved. 6. Administer at room temperature. Scoop   1 level scoop provides 5g of powder.

Storage :

Store in a cool dry place. Always replace the container lid after use. Once opened use within one month.

 Use under medical supervision. For enteral use only. Due to the low content of potassium, chloride, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin A in this product which maybe required in chronic renal failure, levels should be monitored and individual nutrients supplemented if required.
