How to Use :
All Aptamil products carry preparation instructions. Please see packaging for further information. The standard dilution of 13.4% is made with 3 scoops of powder and 90ml of water providing 66 kcal/100ml. Aptamil Pepti-Junior can be prepared with 4 scoops (18.1% dilution) instead of 3 in case of high energy needs, such as malabsorption with malnutrition, to provide 88.7 kcal/100ml and still with a low osmolality (275 mOsmol/kg H2O). The recommended intake of Aptamil Pepti-Junior should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only, and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the infant. Due to the special formulation of this feed there will be some separation of prepared feeds on standing. Shake well before use. For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds. Make up each feed as required and always discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible and always within 2 hours.
Storage :
Store in a cool, dry place (5-25°C). Do not refrigerate. Once opened, use within four weeks. Always replace container lid after use. For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds. Make up each feed as required and always discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible and always within 2 hours.
Precautions :
Aptamil Pepti Junior can be bottle-fed or administered as bolus or continuous drip feeds via enteral tube feeding. N.B. Patients with severe gut damage should receive half strength feeds initially, gradually increasing to full strength over 2-3 days. Not suitable for intravenous use. Not suitable for infants with galactosaemia, galactokinase deficiency or anaphylaxis.
